Coronavirus - Portland's Food Bank

During this difficult time, it's becoming clear how many islanders are relying on Portland's Food Bank to get by during the current lock down. As a consequence, we understand that the Food Bank is struggling to keep up with demand, running low on stock and not always being able to fulfil need.

If you're able to, the Food Bank welcomes any support you can offer, either by donating food, or ideally by financial donation so that the Food Bank volunteers can purchase those items that are desperately needed.

I can provide anyone wishing to make a financial donation with details of the Food Bank's bank account so that BACS transfer payments can be made directly into the Food Bank's account. I can be contacted using my amail address.

As some PROBUS Members will know, Ken Hutchings owns a villa in Cyprus, which he has again decided to put up for rent to friends i.e. not commercially.   If any Portland PROBUS members are interested in renting Ken's villa, which is available all year round, then he would be pleased to hear from you.

Villa Emalia is set on Alexandrian Heights in the beautiful village of Pissouri which is equidistant between the towns of Paphos and Limassol, and 2 kilometres off the main highway linking these towns. Emalia’s quiet location has magnificent views over Pissouri Bay and the mountains, with vineyards and farms nearby.  The village centre with its many tavernas, shops and banks, is 12 minutes walk away and the beach 8 minutes drive.   Emalia is a spacious, modern, quality villa, furnished to a high standard, will sleep up to 6 people and enjoys the use of a communal pool.
